Ode to the Elements Forever

Longstanding Austin belly dance performance artist Helene Christopher, aka Z-Helene, is producer, choreographer, and artistic director. She will be reviving material from her earlier work Ode to the Elements which premiered in Austin in 1989. This present rendition consists of three large dance pieces to the original music that was commissioned by Z-Helene in 1988-89. The thematic material of one large group dance explores the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit. Another dance enacts a modern interpretation of the Greek myth of the maiden goddess Persephone. Z-Helene will perform an in-depth solo highlighting her 37-year dance career. Finally, there will be a live music, vocals, and large group dance portion of the show continuing the elements theme. Ode to the Elements Forever will synergize music, dance, song, color, and emotional depth into an evening of high entertainment and soulful art. It promises to dazzle, captivate, and move the audience on many levels - a true cornucopia of sight, sound and feeling.
